The digestion of foods is a very complex process and can start even before we start eating. The mere sight or odour of food can trigger enzymatic activity, in anticipation of food. Foods are composed of different 'elements' i.e. proteins, carbohydrates and fats, not mentioning the vitamins & minerals found in the foods. These require different enzymes to break them down into their separate constituent parts. Once digested, the body can then absorb these nutrients and transport them around the body, via the bloodstream, to the various organs and cells.
Digestive enzymes, which are only a few of the thousands of known enzymes, are complex proteins that are found in the digestive tract. The Digestive Enzymes are secreted by different glands in the body, including the salivary glands, the stomach and pancreas glands and the glands in the small intestines, work optimally at a specific temperature and pH. The human body produces around 22 different types of digestive enzymes, each of which acts on a different type of food. They stimulate chemical changes in other substances and are used by the body to break down food into:
- nutrients, which are then digested
- and waste, which is then expelled
However, use of medication, modern diets, ill health, stress or sustained poor food choices don't always help and digestion can be a tricky prospect at times and our gut may need a little help in the work it has to do. The number of digestive enzymes produced by our bodies decreases as we age (enzyme production in the body decreases by as much as 30% in most adults over 50). Some foods, especially Fats & Proteins such as cheese, eggs, red meats & beans can be hard to digest at the best of times, and when we don't produce enough digestive enzymes to complete the process of digestion efficiently, gas, bloating, and more serious health issues may occur.

"I met a friend I hadn't seen for three years and she inquired about my wife, who she knew had health problems. She told to switch to NutriAid supplements and to our amazement in few weeks my wife was feeling much better and happier than earlier."
David Jones, London
"At work, after I started using NutriAid supplements, people started to tell me that I look heathier. And I didn't notice that, they asked me the reason why and the only thing that I could think of was that I had just started to take NutriAid supplements!"
Christie Cardale, Brighton
"I was introduced to NutriAid supplements by a friend of mine. NutriAid supplements had given my friend better health & energy and she thought it might help me. I was very skeptical at first, because my father is a physician and some doctors donot understand the benefits of nutritional supplements. I then agreed to try the NutriAid supplements for a short time and after two weeks I was clamoring for more. I attribute my on-going health and wellbeing to NutriAid supplements."
Amy Graat, Croydon
"As a middle-aged baby boomer I can honestly say that I have enjoyed good health taking NutriAid supplements and if for a few days I neglect my NutriAid supplements I can tell."
Teresa Cummings, Birmingham
